I’ve dreamed of living among the redwoods nearly all my life.
When 2020 Covid 19 BS hit, I used that momentum to sell out and move away from Sacramento CA area to a small town located safely 350 miles from any big city in any direction. Seemed a no-brainer, and we love it here, but we gave up a lot.
The decison to sell was incentivized in large part by fear for our safety combined with daily, harsh, irritating admonishments by Gavin Newsom to justify California lockdowns, (lockdowns to which he, himself did not comply), expanding junkie camps, emptying of prisons, defunding of police and no repercussions for criminal acts.
In the years that followed, mobs violence, riots, looting, burning of cities combined only reinforced our decision.
Yesterday a relative who lives in Sac, laughingly told me “Antifa is coming for you!” ha ha ha ha.
I responded, “and they are coming for you too.”
He guffawed and said, “No, I’m safe, I’ll just tell them I’m for Kamala, they’ll leave me alone.”
I reminded him, “You are an old white male, what makes you think they will take the time to interview you?”
He didn’t respond. Obviously, smug with feelings of intellectual superiority, it never occurred to him that terrorists don’t ruminate, they stereotype. Mistakes happen. Terrorism has no conscience.
This person has investments, several vacation houses, rental properties and enjoys traveling and vacations. In other words, he’s doing well, what me worry? Besides, it’s all those greedy capitalists that are the bigots, racists and selfish ones.
He doesn’t realize his freewheeling upper middle class oppulant lifestyle, private ownership of multiple properties, freedom to come and go and say what he pleases represent everything Kamala and ilk firmly believe is the problem with this country.
I wonder if he realizes what effect a “wealth tax” will have and which of his properties he will be allowed to keep and which to donate to the cause.
But keep trivializing genuine concerns of citizens who value our Constitition, Bill of Rights and all that keeps us free by focusing on the minutia of “firsts” for soon we will be the First greatest experiment where a free peoples voted themselves willingly into slavery for the promise of safety not guaranteed.
