We proudly announce we are 100% vaccinated.
We now have 94% immunization from a virus we have a 99% chance of surviving…
if we are among the unlucky 1% of the population who contracts the Covid 19 Virus.
Hooray we may now feel free to re-mask up and walk around the building.
WTF?
Cooties anyone?
Good God, who among us remembers the Cooties rage of the 1950’s?
Cooties Explained
“Cooties is a fictitious childhood disease, commonly represented as childlore. It is used in the United States and Canada as a rejection term and an infection tag game (such as Humans vs. Zombies). It is similar to the British ‘dreaded lurgi‘, and to terms used in the Nordic countries, in Italy, Australia and New Zealand. A child is said to “catch” cooties through close contact with an “infected” person or from an opposite-sex child of a similar age.“
Ya, sounds innocent enough until you find yourself lined up for a public head lice inspection … which BTW, happens to school children everywhere.
“Tag, You’re It”
“Oooooh, now you have cooties” is the playground cry for Tag-You’re-It, at least it was when we were in grammar school.
If you are unlucky enough to be tagged with “it” you must immediately tag someone else or suffer some form of consequence depending upon the severity of the hazing
- Stand in a corner
- Skip a turn
- Lose friends
The problem/beauty of the Tag-You’re It” games is that “IT” is never clearly defined. What ever “it” is waxes and wains with ambiguity because the goal is obfuscation.
Obfuscation: to make things obscure, unclear, or unintelligible
The combination of which makes the perfect setting for gaslighting!
Gaslighting: psychological manipulation intended to make people question their own sanity or reasoning capabilities.
Cooties game
Again from Wikipedia…”A child is said to “catch” cooties through any form of bodily contact, proximity, or touching of an “infected” person or from a person of the opposite sex of the same age. Often the “infected” person is someone who is perceived as different, due to disability, shyness, being of the opposite sex, or having peculiar mannerisms.“
The “Cooties Game” cemented the association of cooties with little bug-shaped pieces. 2003, the Toy Industry Association included the game on its 20th Century of Toys List of 100 most memorable and most creative toys.
Irrational fear of cooties has helped sell trillions of gallons of soaps and disinfectant.
Not sure when it started but for 70 years now we have watched “Cooties” behavior envelop this country time and time again.
Anyone remember AIDS? That was a cooties moment.
The invention of plastic and latex gloves was another cooties moment.
50 years later we’re masked up and protected by virtual body-condoms in fear of coming into contact with another human being’s fluids….blood, sweat or tears.
All cooties.
As a result of all this focus on ultra cleanliness and fear of cooties we’ve become a paranoid, intolerant peoples and susceptible to super infections like never before.
